Why is the site called Zarpie?
Zarpie is a word from the Urban Dictionary. It means cool, awesome & wicked all at the same time. That's exactly what Zarpie.com is, so it's a perfect name for the site.
How much does it cost to use this site?
Zarpie (pronounced zar-pee) is a free site. You can share images, video & audio files either from the site or upload your own to your free membership profile.
Do I need a membership to use the site?
At Zarpie.com you only need a membership to dig further into the site. For example with a membership you can upload and save your own files, which can be used here or linked to in other sites like eBay or Myspace for free. You can share files with others and communicate with other members through your own private inbox. You can even leave comments on other member's profiles and more. It's an exciting site to be a part of.
How can we advertise through video, audio or images on this site?
That's easy, just contact us by emailing help @ zarpie.com - We can place your ad code on certain pages and we do have the opportunity to place your video commercials before actual videos start.
Can I access Zarpie from a public computer, like at a library or school?
In most cases, yes you can. If you do remember to log out when you're done. Just closing the Web browser doesn't always log you out on a site with our type of software.
How can a video become a featured video?
You can choose to watch any video and just below the video player you'll see a selection of buttons which let you share it with others, add it to your favorites, etc. You'll also see a button to click that allows you to suggest that the video (or audio/image) become featured. Just click that.
How do I join the Zarpie sharing site?
That's easy, just click the Join Now! link on the home page, just under the menu bar or click here.
I see content on Zarpie that I feel should not be on the site, what do I do?
If you see content that is intellectual property (trademark / copyright) contact us directly to request removal. If you are offended by content that you feel is inappropriate for public viewing (pornography, violence, racial, etc.) please go back to the content in question and view the page the content is on. Just below the content that you feel should not be there is a button you can click which reads "Report as Inapropriate". By clicking that button or link you are sending a message to our staff to review the content as soon as possible. After we review it we reserve the right to remove it if we feel the content violates our terms & conditions in any way. We encourage all users of the Zarpie site to let us know when you see inapropriate content.
How do I link to content on Zarpie.com if I want it to display on another Website?
We've made it real easy. You can direct link or hot link to any content on Zarpie.com.
Direct Link: Make the Zarpie content appear on another Website like eBay or MySpace
Hot Link: Place a link in an email or on a Web page so a user can click it and view the content here.
How it works: Visit the page the content is on (we'll use a video as an example but you can link to videos, audio or images). To the right of the video you'll see some text boxes that are pre-filled with information. One says Permalink above it and the other says Embedded Code. If you want to Direct Link to the content just use your left mouse button to click inside the "Embedded Code" text box. This will highlight the code. Now use your right mouse button and a drop down menu will appear. Scroll down this menu to the word "Copy" and use the left mouse button to click the word "Copy". Now you've saved the link in your computer's memory and you can paste it in your document / Web page. To paste it in go to your Web page and right click again where you want to place this code you copied earlier. Now scroll down the drop down menu that appears again and use your left mouse button to click "Paste" and you're done. If you want to hot link to a page do the same as we described above but click & highlight the text box labeled "Permalink" instead (for emails, etc. you can also click under the content, like a video, and click the Email Link To A Friend to just send the email from the site).
TROUBLESHOOTING / SITE PROBLEMS
I tried to upload a file but it was rejected. The site says it can be uploaded. Why?
The majority of files, whether video, audio or image are in small caps on your computer. For example, if you're trying to upload MOVIE.WMV (a windows media video file) it will be rejected. Zarpie software operates under the rule of small caps for file uploads, so just choose the file (like MOVIE.WMV) on your computer and use your keyboard to change the .WMV extension to .wmv and it will upload just fine. This rule applies for any file type you can upload to the site.
I wanted to share a video with some friends. I clicked the "Email Link To A Friend" and tried to send it but it said only 3 email addresses can be added at a time, why?
Although you may wish to share site content with others we only allow 3 emails to go out at a time to restrict spammers (junk email senders) from using our system to paste in mailing lists to send out messages. You can enter 1, 2 or 3 email addresses at a time and then send to more after that if you want to.
I forgot my password, what can I do to reset it?
If you can't remember your password simply go to the login page and click the Forgot Password link.
The site will not let me login, why not?
If you are positive you entered your username & password correctly but you still cannot login you may not have cookies enabled in your Web browser. If that's the case enable them and try logging in again. If you still cannot login contact us for assistance at help @ zarpie.com
I uploaded content but I don't want everyone to see it, can I make it private or delete it?
Yes you can. Try to select the "private" option just before you upload the file first and it's automatic. If you didn't mean to make it public (you already uploaded the content) you can click 'HOME' in the menu bar at the top of the page, on the left side and then click My Videos, My Audio, or My Images (depending on what you uploaded). Once you get to your content page hover your mouse over the red icons to the right of your thumbnail preview. Once lets you delete the file and the other lets you edit the file. Click on the one that lets you edit the file and change it to Private.
How do I change my profile information or my password?
Click the 'HOME' link on the top menu bar and then click My Profile on the right side of the page, just under the top menu bar. You can change any information you entered there.
I deleted one of my files on accident. How do I un-delete it?
Unfortunately items deleted are gone for good and cannot be retrieved. You had to upload it to get it there so you can just upload it again. We have no way of seeing or retrieving deleted content.
Zarpie staff deleted my image (or video / audio). Why?
We only delete content that violates our "Terms & Conditions". If any of your content was in violation of these conditions we reserve the right to delete it with or without notice.
I want to delete my account, how is this done?
Just contact us from your registered email address (the email in your profile) and ask us to delete the account. Please keep in mind that this is not reversible. Once deleted your account is gone completely, including your uploads.
I'm trying to change my password in my profile but I get an error message
If you're getting a message saying you can't do it that way you entered invalid characters.
How do I put a link or Web address in an title of content I'm uploading?
HTML is disabled. If you enter zarpie.com in our forms it will show up on the site as zarpiecom because all symbols & punctuation are removed. In other words, you can't put links in.
